I will be adding to may Themes page as I find ones I recommend. But for right now I will share a couple things when looking for a theme.

  1. The WordPress site is always the best place to download a theme from, you probably won’t get anything with spyware or hidden codes, you can find it here WordPress Themes.
  2. Unless you know how to tweak code you will want to get something widget ready.
  3. Start with a few simple themes. See how they look after you have a few posts written, it is hard to tell what it is going to look like on a blank page.
  4. Choose something you can customize.
  5. While your blog is relatively unknown, change your blog around often playing with new themes. After you start getting regular readers you won’t want to do this or you will lose your consistency.
  6. Find a look and color scheme that is comfortable for you to write in. Who cares if it is a popular  theme if YOU don’t like it.
  7. Avoid using over used themes.
  8. Study up on how to customize our own theme.
  9. Avoid themes that require you to keep a link back to anyone other than the theme developer.
  10. Be creative!
