The first step in starting a new blog is the domain name and hosting, at this time I  use  GoDaddy.com for domains, I have been happy with their service but I am not real pleased with their advertising. It is a lot of trouble to change when you have several domains, so I am there for now.

For hosting I use Hostgator and I have been real pleased with them.  I would highly recommend them. There are several reasons why you want to have your own domain name and have your blog hosted on your own account. It is just better long term especially if you ever intend to add advertising or make any money with your blog at all. There are just too many restrictions when you go with a free blog an another site. Not to mention that there will be advertising that you cannot control and you will not receive any income from it. So it is better to just start off right.

Now I will give more specifics later as to the domain name process and the hosting account set up if you don’t understand all of that. For now lets just get the ball rolling.

Let’s assume you have your domain, and your hosting and you have WordPress installed. Now we are on the the fun part…. choosing a theme.
